Description: Project took place at the RM Clayton WRC for the City of Atlanta. Major work included construction of 2 new sludge thickeners with 175 auger cast piles, installation of new river sampling structures, installation of new instruments and sampling pumpsconsisted of a new building that houses 2 -1750 KW generators that is powered by natural gas or methane gas produced by the plant improvements.
Also, included are additions to the plug flow reactor, digester gas holder, methane gas filtration and supporting electrical and mechanical work. This project
was re-negotiated from the original bid price of $16,435,000 with value engineering and deductive alternates to get within owner’s budget. The thermophilic
intergral combined heat and power (CHP) system for co-generation of renewable
energy is a first of its kind for this type of total process, and has received global
awards due to its innovation.
