Project Location: Gwinnett County, GA

Initial Bid Amount: $7,570,000

Description: The project had an 80-foot deep pump station in solid granite with a 2000-foot tunnel up to 150 feet deep under I-85 and 20 apartment complex buildings. The exit shaft was 50 feet deep, and 30 feet from an apartment complex, which was occupied during construction.  Mechanical work included channel grinders and 350 Hp pumps. The project also had 3500 feet of 24” DIP, which included a boring under I-85. Included was mass bottom concrete placement of 650 cy with a total of 1400 cy.  Pump station was excavated in solid rock and 18,000 cy was crushed on site and reused for a waterway project in Atlanta, Ga.
